Gateway News The D-Star Team
Woodson is up. Gateway planned for 12/28 (12/24). The D1 Gateway is now on G2. The callsign for D1 KI6JKA. Since G1 and G2 Gateways don’t talk to each other, D1 and D4 are now not linkable, but this will be fixed in the near future. The PAPA D-Star System One of the greatest hurdles to implementation of D-Star (or other alternative digital systems) in crowded metropolitan areas like ours is the lack of pairs. Cecil Casillas worked tirelessly to obtain pairs for our use and without his efforts we would be stymied. The performance of the new digital repeaters has been excellent, thanks to the hard work and cooperation of members and friends. The performance of D1, for example has been, to quote Cecil, “beyond my expectations.” It has been reported that D-4 is now one of the most active Gateways on the D-Star nationally. Palomar is also operational and its performance is comparable to that of Oat. We have a commitment for a pair on Crestline, which will provide tremendous coverage for the Inland Empire, and negotiations are continuing for a clean pair on Saddle. Frequencies
Oat (D1) Frequency: 447.200 Call sign: KI6JKA
Saddle (D4) Frequency: 449.080 Call sign: KF6BQK
Palomar (D10) Frequency: 445.86 Call sign: WB6YES
Mt. Woodson (planned 12/26) Frequency: 447.840 Call sign: KI6KQU
Crestline (Planned) 448.700 Call sign: WR6BRN (target effective date September)
